Meet Kiran.

I’m originally from Portland, Oregon, although I grew up all over the world. For the past decade, I’ve worked as a writer and editor covering the outdoors and culture. I found my calling as an officiant in 2019 and this year, I became a sacred passage doula. In my free time, you’ll find me at the farmer’s market or hiking near my home in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado.

  • I have a Master’s of Journalism from New York University, where I focused on Cultural Reporting and Criticism.

  • I’ve been to six continents, 48 countries, 47 U.S. states, and 34 National Parks. My parents are U.S. diplomats, and I grew up in 11 different countries around the world.

  • I’ve worn a lot of (stylish) hats in my life: I’ve worked as a bike guide, museum docent, and regenerative farmer.

  • I still write and publish articles regularly, for magazines, digital publications, and nonprofits. I’ve worked at 5280, Outside, Mountain, BBC, Rolling Stone, Thrillist, SPIN, and Relix.

  • I have a a deep respect for Indigenous ways of life and am a passionate climate advocate.
